I always say the next best thing to making money is saving money.  Who wants to pay retail price, if you don’t have to?  I am a person who is always on the lookout for deals, discounts, coupons, and even freebies.  Smartphone apps have made it so much easier to save money which comes in really handy when you have a family, have to stick to a budget, or for those who love bargains.

That is why I decided to write this post and provide you with a review of some of the smartphone apps that I use for saving money.  Here are a few that I recommend and even use to keep extra cash in my pocket.

Extrabux

Get $20 when you join today!  The name of this app describes exactly what this app will do.  Prevent you from ever paying the retail price again.  I absolutely LOVE this app because you can find deals and discounts at restaurants, and stores like Bed Bath & Beyond, while you are shopping at the mall that you can’t find anywhere else.  It is easy to use because you simply present the code at the store when you are ready to check out and it will automatically deduct your savings from your total.  I have used it multiple times at Bath & Body Works.    This app even has the Good Housekeeping seal and rave reviews on Google Play and the App Store.  Download it today for free to start saving.

Groupon

If you haven’t used Groupon yet, you are missing out on special offers from local businesses and hotels, entertainment, family fun, day spas, massages, and more.  If you have ever wanted to try Blue Apron but it didn’t fit into your budget, Groupon has a discount of $40 off your first month from Blue Apron.  You can also save when you shop at Samsung, Pier 1, Lowe’s, and hundreds of other places.  I use Groupon a lot when I stay in the Smokies for great deals on condo rentals and at Great Wolfe Lodge.  Download the app to see all their coupons.

Ibotta

I love this app too!  I have been an Ibotta user for close to 5 years now and I think the app just keeps getting better and better.  I like it because you can save on your groceries and even use physical coupons along with it.  You can travel for less, save on gifts, and home decor, get $30 cashback when you purchase a Hulu subscription, get cashback when you rent or buy videos at Amazon, on a Sam’s Club membership, and even by referring your friends.  You can redeem your cashback savings via PayPal or with free gift cards from Target, Whole Foods, Uber, iTunes, Best Buy, Groupon, and more.  Get $10 to join Ibotta.

Ebates

Ebates is another site that will give you $10 when you join and shop at the store and/or online to redeem cool coupons from Old Navy, QVC, Walgreens, JCPenney, Banana Republic, and more.  I always tell my friends about Ebates because it is so easy to use.  I have earned close to $3,000 so far with Ebates and could have made more if I had joined a long time ago.  Don’t make the same mistake I did.  I look forward to receiving my Big Fat Check every 3 months and so will you!  If you already use Ebates, don’t forget to download and install the Ebates Cash Back Button to Google Chrome as an extension so you will never miss any cashback offers.  The button will activate Cash Back directly at store sites and automatically apply promo codes at checkout!

Saving Star

There’s a great new coupon company called SavingStar that recently launched and makes it really easy to save on groceries.  SavingStar’s eCoupons are totally paperless. There’s nothing to clip or print since they are 100% digital! They work at over 100 chains in 24,000 stores nationwide.

Here’s how it works:

1. Select the eCoupons you like on the website or mobile app, and they are automatically linked to your store card.

2. Use your card when you checkout and the money is added to your SavingStar account. The savings don’t change your bill at the register and the savings are not printed on the receipt. Instead, they get deposited into your account within 2-30 days depending upon where you shop.

3. Once your SavingStar account reaches $5 in savings, you can pick your payout from a bank account deposit, a PayPal account deposit, an Amazon gift card, or a donation to charity!

Checkout51

If you like going to the mail and receiving a check for your grocery purchases, then you will definitely want to use Checkout51.  You don’t need a smartphone or tablet to upload your receipts.  All you need is a computer to scan your receipts, save them to a file on your computer, and upload them to Checkout51 to get credit.  Almost anyone can use this app if you live in the US or Canada.  Receipts have to be uploaded in English, French, or Spanish.  New offers are added on Thursday.  Every week a new member has a chance to win $500 in cash for uploading a grocery receipt that has purchases of at least $60 on one shopping trip!

Fetch Rewards

Use the code G4HBH when you download this app to shop anywhere and get cashback when you upload your receipts to Fetch Rewards.  There is no minimum amount you need to have in your account in order to request payment plus you get your cash instantly!
